Gum Trees and Hot Concrete: Solo Exhibition

  • The Wellington Gallery 2-24 Wellington Street Waterloo, Sydney, 2017 Australia (map)

The Wellington Gallery presents Gum Trees and Hot Concrete- an exhibition of new abstract paintings by emerging Sydney artist Alexandra Plim.

Working from her home studio in the inner west of Sydney, where she lives with her young family and husband Tom, aka Hot Dub Time Machine, artist Alexandra Plim creates expressive abstract works, experimenting with mark making, colour and texture, drawing inspiration from our diverse and dramatic Australian landscape.

As the pandemic wreaked havoc on the arts and entertainment industry and school shut downs made painting time non-existent, I did not think having an exhibition this year would be possible! Somehow the paintings were still painted, be it in the middle of the night, and with some sensible restrictions galleries are still open! So here we are. I'm thrilled to be able to share this work with an audience of art lovers, especially as we are all so desperate to feel connected, inspired and uplifted.”

Gum Trees and Hot Concreteis about painting, finding some freedom amongst the chaos of city life, meditation, experimentation and good old fashioned play with paint.
