Framed in Tasmanian Oak

This group of work developed early last year whilst working through Tonee Messiah's fabulous online course 'Sustain Your Painting Practise' via National Art School. The drama of the recent 2019 floods and bushfires in NSW drew me in and almost as soon as I had swooshed down the canvas with a tea towel wash of browny hills, I knew they had to be landscapes!

The compositions are improvised, allowing the stabbing of the brush and dripping of the liquid paint to dictate the scene. The later works in the series further explore the drips and stabs of the brush, creating massed scenes of forest, both burnt and rejuvenated, after another drive through the Blue Mountains and Bell's Line of Road. I love how raw and real these painting are, they feel new, immediate and exciting. I hope you love them as much as I do.

All the works have been beautifully box framed in Tasmanian Oak by the talented folks at Art and Framing Co.
